The Best Pens to Use For Your Wedding Bible Guest Book

So you bought the Bible, but now you’re terrified to ruin the dainty, delicate pages…

You’ve come to the right place! Whether you’re using the Bible to study God’s word and take notes in or to have your wedding guests sign at your wedding reception, you want tools that won’t harm the fragile Bible pages, and I’ve finally rounded up my best recommendations! (along with what kind of Bible to use and how to explain to guests what to do!)

First off, what Bibles are best to journal in?

Fortunately, there are a whole group of Bibles made to be written in that specifically have thicker, sturdier pages. When you’re searching online or in stores, they are almost always called “journaling” Bibles, “notetaking” Bibles, or for some brands, “Journal the Word” Bibles, so you don’t have to worry about grabbing the wrong thing.

Here are a few of my favorite journaling Bibles in each version:

ESV Journaling Bibles: Softcover Brown Leather Bible | Customizable Hardcover White Bible | Hardcover Black Bible

NIV Journaling Bible: Softcover Brown Leather Bible | Hardcover Black Bible

KJV Journaling Bible: Softcover Brown Leather Bible | Hardcover Black Bible

NKJV Journaling Bible: Softcover Brown Leather Bible | Hardcover Black Bible

Catholic Journaling Bible: Hardcover Navy Bible

I know that doesn’t cover everything, but hopefully gives you a good start!

If you’re looking for a custom painted or engraved journaling Bible that is personalized with your design or wording of choice, feel free to check out what we have at Ross Paint Shop! I’ll add a few examples here to show some of the options we have available:

Okay, on to what to use in your Bible! The main thing people love to use are highlighters and pens, and the most important quality is that they don’t bleed through the page, dry quickly, and have smooth, consistent flow, so here is what I recommend:

Pens: Pigma Micron Pens

I love these pens because they’re archival quality and made for delicate pages, they don’t bleed, and will not smudge. They are my go-to for years now! I typically use the black, .3mm (02), which is a pretty thin line, so if you want something thicker or a different color, feel free to search Amazon or other stores for Pigma Micron and browse through all of their options to find the best one for you.

Highlighters: Yellow Gel Highlighters

I linked Sharpie brand above, but any brand of gel highlighter will work, and obviously you can choose any color you’d like (might be fun to match the highlighter to your wedding colors!)

If you want a set that includes 2 pens and 2 highlighters, we have one in the shop to make things easy on you! Check it out here.

That’s it!

And lastly, if you need a sign to go with your Bible, here are a few below that are super easy to download and print for your guest book table (we have more colors in the shop as well!):

We absolutely loved using a Bible for our guest book. It’s so fun to look back at the notes people wrote us and to see their favorite verses and encouragement for us, so I can’t wait for you to have that experience as well! If you have any more questions about tools to use, custom Bibles, or a guest book sign, feel free to message us in the shop or send an email to rosspaintshop@gmail.com.
